The core of our legal activity is in the development of particular strategies concerning international litigation as well as in the handling of court cases within these fields of intellectual property rights: patents and utility models, trademarks, designs, unfair competition, and copyrights. We plead before all the relevant German district and appeals courts, as well as before the Federal Patent Court, the Federal Supreme Court in nullity cases, and furthermore, before the General Court (CFI) and the Court of Justice (ECJ) of the European Union.

Furthermore, we facilitate the international prosecution of trademark and design registrations, from the preparation and submission of applications to the enforcement of the registration before competent authorities. In such cases we also work together, should the need arise, with international colleagues with outstanding qualifications. We represent our clients before these particular authorities as well as in adversarial proceedings, such as those involving cancellation and opposition actions before the venues of the German Patent and Trademark Office, the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (community trademarks and designs), and the World Intellectual Property Office.

We advise clients in the area of domain rights and in related arbitration matters and are also able to plead before the World Intellectual Property Office concerning ".com domains" and before the Czech Arbitration Court involving ".eu domains."

Out of court, we advise and assist our clients in the development of effective measures against the infringement of their intellectual property rights, including border seizures and product piracy. We regularly examine for our clients the commercial and marketing environment as to the legal admissibility of potential advertisements and trademarks.

Another field of our expertise is that of employee inventions. For our clients we develop suitable remuneration for the inventions of their employees via juridical formulations, mediate disputes between employers and employed inventors, arbitrate as required before the Arbitration Board under the German Act on Employee's Inventions, and counsel our clients in legal proceedings before the relevant courts. Furthermore, we advise our clients on the formulation and negotiation of contracts related to IP rights, including contracts involving licensing, cooperation, know-how, as well as prior-rights agreements.
