Korbinian Kopf was born in Munich in 1969. He studied electrical engineering at the Technical University of Munich, obtaining his diploma with a master thesis in the field of digital image processing in medical engineering at the École Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications de Bretagne in Brest, France in 1994. He acquired a Master's Degree in Business Administration at the Newcastle Business School of the University of Northumbria in Newcastle, UK, with a master thesis on Chinese negotiation culture.
Following his studies, Korbinian Kopf worked as a consultant with a major American phototechnology company and a German chemical company in Hong Kong and southern China.
Between 1996 and 2000 Korbinian Kopf trained as a patent attorney with Hoffman Eitle in Munich. After passing the German patent bar examination in 2000 he joined Kenyon & Kenyon in New York. In 2001 he passed the US patent agent examination and thus holds a limited recognition with the US-PTO. He is also admitted as a European patent attorney at the European Patent Office and as a European trademark and design attorney at the European Community Trademark Office (OHIM).
Korbinian Kopf joined Maiwald Patentanwalts GmbH in 2002 and has been a partner and managing director since 2004, working from the Munich office. He is also responsible for the New York offshoot of Maiwald Patentanwalts GmbH, Maiwald, Inc., which provides European IP services to US clients and acts as an interface to US clients and associates.
Korbinian Kopf's activities cover all aspects of industrial property rights in the fields of electronic and information technology, especially telecommunications, aircraft construction and image processing.
During his professional career, Korbinian Kopf has handled transnational litigation cases in the USA and Europe. Thanks to his qualification in US law and European law, he has acquired an in-depth knowledge of US and European litigation rules and procedures. He has also acquired experience in international arbitration cases. Since his prosecution and litigation portfolio includes major international corporations, he is excellently equipped to provide the requisite global perspective.
He is a member of AIPLA, VPP, AIPPI und FICPI. Korbinian Kopf speaks German, English and French.
